In 1977, the residents of a small town in the Iron Range made a stunning show of defiance against a political class which was ignoring a very dire situation which the residents found themselves in. The town’s defiance swept the imagination of America and likely began opening the door for Secession and Self-Governance to become serious topics of discussion heading into the 21st Century.
