The "Titanic" tragedy continues 111 years later. In 1912, the ship sank and 1517 people died; over-reactions to the initial tragedy claimed a further 848 lives in 1915; now in 2023, five more deaths on the tourist submarine "Titan" which was headed down to observe "Titanic". (Seriously, who thought giving the name "Titan" to a submarine designed to explore the "Titanic" would be a good idea after all the talk about how an 1898 novel called "The Wreck of the 'Titan' " seemed to eerily foreshadow "Titanic's" demise?) I do not believe in superstitions, but if there ever was a case to be made for a cursed ship, it would be the "Titanic", who has now claimed almost 900 more lives even after her own initial demise in 1912.
